With a background in Animation studied collegiately at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and after a time of self-reflection in search of a career path to find his creative voice, Tyrell switched gears and stepped foot on his first set as a production assistant in 2010.

Earning his first on-screen credit as a production assistant on the Academy Award winning film, Spotlight (2015), He then focused his career in moving towards becoming an assistant director.

A move to New York during the Fall of 2015 expanded his knowledge of production from film to television. Working on a multitude of network series in NY, traveling back and forth to Massachusetts for feature film projects, and working overall in 7 different states on various projects in the span of 5 years, He achieved his goal of joining the Directors Guild of America in 2019.

After joining the DGA, He then relocated back to his home state of Massachusetts where he received his first guild represented role as an AD. On the second season of Hulu’s Castle Rock, Massachusetts’ first televised series filmed primarily in the state since Spenser: For Hire filmed 30 years prior, Tyrell earned the opportunity to fill in as additional 2nd AD as well as a tandem unit 2nd 2nd AD.

Since that time, He’s been continuing along the path of working as 2nd 2nd AD & Additional 2nd AD on television, streaming, and feature projects, as well as, 2nd AD for commercials in Massachusetts and New York. He’s been reaching out to various communities to bring in new emerging production assistants. He’s is currently building his very own directing reel.

He has found his voice.
